Black Woman Social – Merch Design
Brief – For this project I designed merchandise for the brand, consisting of totes, stickers, and pins. The challenge of this project was to create merch that coincides with their existing brand identity; while expanding the idea of community.
Black Woman Social is a platform that celebrates women of color by providing information, community, and resources to assist in the progression of black women via www.blackwomansocial.com and their Instagram @blackwomansocial
My approach was to convey a sense of community with the brand and I thought drawing inspiration from butterflies was a perfect solution. I thought of BWS members as social butterflies with their own unique stories, experiences to share and grow from. Using the brand's gradient color scheme to reflect the colorful and unique of them and butterflies they represent.
Results – We ended up with a collection of eight pieces, which consist of tees, pins, stickers and a tote; for the members of Black Woman Social. Along with some packaging and a thank you card to go along with their purchase.
